Zone Netball

In term 3 Pukekohe Intermediate sent 4 Netball teams (two year 7 and two year 8) to Manurewa netball courts. Here we played 5-7 16 minute games of netball.

I got into the Year 8 Zone-b Netball team. We won 5 of our games and lost two. From this we were placed 3rd in the whole tournament for our grade. I was a little bit disappointed with the result because this ment we couldn't go to inter-zone.

Over all it was a fun and tiring day of netball.
We all played as a team and gave it our all.

Google Doodle

During the first few weeks of term 3, our class have been in the process of designing Google doodles, representing New Zealand.

Google was holding a competition for New Zealand kids to design a Google Doodle. A Google Doodle is a artistic drawing that involves the GOOGLE logo. The Google Doodle design has to have a my New Zealand (what we think of New Zealand) theme.

Each student was given a Google design sheet and we had come up with creative ideas to put on their Google Doodle.

As a class we voted for a Google Doodle that we liked the most, and we chose 8 to be to send to Google.

Good luck to anyone that was involved in this competition.

Website Designs

During the last 3 weeks of Term 3 Mrs Pearson and I have been working on a Maui's Dolphins awareness website. During Term 2 and 3 our mural has come a long way. Our Maui's Dolphins awareness Mural is finished!! The local artist we commissioned has been working hard to get our mural finished, and it looks great!

Our website was entered in the Netguide TVNZ 6 Multimedia Challenge. It was to educate the public on why the Maui's are so important and what our class is doing to help them.
I used weebly.com to complete my website. On this website we included: all the facts about Maui's, Risks - why they are so endangered, What you can do to make a difference, what our class did to make a difference and a photo gallery.

Here is a link to the Website

Take a look at our website and let everybody you know about us and the Maui's Dolphins.

ICT Report

Over the two years that we have been in room23 we have learned so many new computer skills. This report is to show how our computer skills have developed. They will go to our High School when we leave intermediate. My scores were Skilled and Proficient.

Exposition Evaluation

Early on in term 2 we all wrote a speech. Then after we had said our speech Mrs. Pearson wanted us to write and exposition. My Exposition is on Why the use of mobile phones while driving should be illegal. My score was 4B.
Here is my Evaluation.

Science Roadshow 2009

On the 20th July 2009 our class went to the Fonterra Science Roadshow. The Science Roadshow was set up in our hall. The Roadshow is showing over a preiod of 3 days Monday - Wednesday. The Science Roadshow travels all round New Zealand teaching kids about different science topics each year. Schools from as far as Hunua came to our school to see the roadshow and try out all the activities. The first show we saw was about carbon dioxcide and why our ozone layer is being destroyed. Then everyone got to walk around and try out all the exhibits. Then we watched another show about how sound travels through the air. It was a very enjoyable show and we look forward to seeing it in the future.

Science Fair Evaluation 2009

Science Fair 2009

This year it was compulsory for all year 8 students to complete a science fair project. We all completed a science board at home. I completed my photography board with Bailee. But Mrs. Pearson thought we could do better, so we all completed one in class time with another buddy. I completed my second Scientific Research board with Sophie. Our board is on the Taste And Tongue. Our end result is full of information and clear diagrams. Our presentation is clear and neat. Our Score was 90/100. The teacher that marked us was Mrs. Pearson. Here is my science fair evaluation.
